TrailSeeker is a personal mountain-bike trail recommender for the Sintra, Arrábida and Sesimbra regions. It is run by an individual, not a company, and exists to help a small community of riders pick the right trail on the right day. This page explains exactly what data it holds and why.
What we collect, and why
- Your Strava profile and activities — when you connect
with Strava you authorize us (OAuth scope
activity:read_all) to read your profile name and your activity history, including private activities. We use it for one purpose: inferring your demonstrated riding level and matching you to trails. We never post to Strava on your behalf. - Ride-derived data — the trails (Strava segments) you ride, how often, and your effort times, used for your profile, your top-3 times, and recommendations.
- Condition reports you file — trail ratings and hazard flags you submit are shared with other TrailSeeker members (that's their purpose), attributed to your account internally but not displayed with your name.
- Waitlist signups — first name and email, used solely to invite you when a seat opens. Never shared or used for marketing.
What we don't do
- No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties.
- No advertising, no tracking cookies. The only cookie is the session cookie that keeps you signed in.
- One member's Strava data is never shown to another member.
Where data lives
Data is stored in the European Union (database in London, application in Amsterdam). Weather comes from Open-Meteo and trail geometry from OpenStreetMap — neither receives any of your personal data.
Deleting your data
Revoke TrailSeeker's access in your Strava settings and your account and all associated data — profile, activities, efforts, reports — are deleted automatically. You can also email trailseekernet@gmail.com for deletion of anything else (e.g. a waitlist entry).
